Rhythm Pigs Headline
The NorVA
Today, the band is happier than Pigs in slop because they are playing
locally and regionally. They have opened up for some of the biggest names
in the Southern Rock arena with a bright future for many more.
The Pigs are headlining The NorVa on March 5th and playing a Hampton
Roads Rock for Life benefit at Rosy II on Chesapeake Blvd. March 26th.
Playing 20 or more gigs a month hasn't tired or slowed the pigs at
all. In fact, it is quite the opposite. It has been fueling their fires.
Fodrey states, "We've been out pumpin' the CD and playin' our asses off."
With a new line up, the Pigs have a few other tricks up their sleeves.
New guitar player Jimmy Williams brings a sound of his own and Dave
Hlubek (founder of Molly Hatchet) fans the flames..
Catching up to Haymen at their weekly Wed. open mic at Rosy II, the
guitarist jokes, "Timmy treats us like mushrooms. He keeps us in the dark
and feeds us a bunch of shit." But the way things are going for the Pigs,
you'd have to be a fool to care. Fodrey is a great provider for his band,
and business has never been better. Yet, this may just be the tip of the
iceberg for the Pigs because Fodrey and the Pigs have teamed up with Dave
Hlubek of Molly Hatchet Fame.
Just about everyone in the music industry has heard of Dave Hlubek.
Those who have seen him will testify to the fact that he is an awesome
guitar player. He should be, heÕs been playing for over 35 years.
After his departure from Molly Hatchet, Dave put in 12 years into the
Dixie Allstars/Southern Rock Allstars. Dave has traveled the world many
times, show-casing the songs that he helped make famous.
When Dave decided to venture out on his own, he knew he needed a good
band to back him. A band with the character, skill, and precision needed
to match his hard driving style of playing. As he considered his choices,
one band stood out above the rest: The Rhythm Pigs.
The Rhythm Pigs, voted "Hampton Roads Best Blues Band" of 2002, have
played their melodic, bone crunching at times, brand of Southern Rock and
blues in front of tens of thousands of fans, opening for world famous performers
such as: The Charlie Daniels Band, Marshall Tucker Band, Hank Williams
Jr., Molly Hatchet, Lynyrd Skynyrd and The Southern Rock Allstars, to name
a few. From Norfolk, Virginia, The Rhythm Pigs have proven time and again
that they are a force to be reckoned with.
To quote Rickey Medlocke, one of Lynyrd Skynyrd's 3 lead guitarists
-
"These guys are great!"
