KRUNCH

Well for starters, my name is GreatBoz, this name was given to me by the great staff of a great local Virginia Beach, VA Club called 5150. This is my first article for SPLASH Magazine with a monthly column coming each month, so wine and dine me and I may write something good about you. Just joking. Let's talk about KRUNCH, in my opinion, THE Best Hard Rock Cover band in Hampton Roads and beyond. There are others but if you have seen a complete KRUNCH show from beginning to end, you would understand what I am talking about.

Krunch is based out of Virginia Beach, VA and was formed by musicians of other local bands in the area. Each member has over 10 years experience performing in cover and original bands throughout the local and regional area. Krunch is a cover band that plays popular rock, dance and alternative music performed with high energy. The members are highly motivated musicians with plenty of stage experience and professional attitude. The live show is geared towards entertaining the crowd with popular music enhanced by a light show, which guarantees audience participation. Krunch's goal is to play energetic music for everyone to enjoy from the first song to the last. Definitely a band to party with.

Their set lists are great, they have a songbook which is very deep so they change set lists for each night they play but need to try to keep some songs in a particular order for guitar tuning purposes.

Gary Hammond on guitar has a very unique approach on how he plays and is quite the showman with probably the best poses that I have seen in a while. He has great tone (especially with my favorite Gold Sparkle Top Les Paul). Not to mention, one of the most genuine musicians that I have ever met. No attitude here.

Their singer, JT is the most versatile singer that I have ever seen in a cover band. This guy has chops and puts on a full performance every gig. I have never heard someone with his range, he is definitely a gifted musician and great front man, nothing boring about JT.

Warren Beavers on bass, well first of all, I have known Warren for over 10 years. To see him excel over the years has been very impressive and he is a very solid bass player with G Ð K equipment and the bonus is that Warren can sing some high harmonies.

Mark Buchardt on drums, again, I have known Mark for over 10 years and he has become THE best power drummer in Hampton Roads in my opinion. He is the heartbeat of this band, and he never misses a beat, great showmanship and full on power all night long. You will always see Mark on top of his drum riser, as he is a professional. Mark's chops are unbelievable, if you like drummers, then you have to see this band.

So, in summary, if you like hard rock (and you CAN dance to hard rock) that is mostly current and a few oldies rocked up, this IS the band for you. You will not be disappointed. There are so many cover bands out there you would think they would all be watered down playing the same old tired songs like, Gel, Santeria, Hard to handle, etc. This band is on the pulse of what is happening now and there is nothing boring about this band. If the club charges any cover for this band, they are worth every cent of your money.

Check out their myspace page or hit them up at their website for updated information.

Carson Eaves is their full time soundman who runs lights as well. I have known Carson for about 10 years and his reputation is impeccable not to mention a great guy who is straight up. If you don't want to hear the truth don't ask Carson, or even myself!
