Get Your Kicks on Root 66

Root 66. Yes, that's R-o-o-t 66 and not a typo. The band describes their sound as root rock with influences from blues classics and modern rock to alternative. The band recently wowed the crowd at Double LL Lounge, located on the corner of Virginia Beach Blvd. and First Colonial Rd. in Virginia Beach, owned by Robert Roher and Judy Davis is Band Coordinator. The 5 piece group consists of originating member Hank Carroll, who plays smokin' harp, rhythm guitar, flute and vocals along with original member Jim "The Machine" McKechnie on drums and three new members. They are John Graebing, lead guitar and vocals, he has a gift for playing in the style of Eric Clapton, VanHalen and Santana in a way that if you shut your eyes you would swear they were on stage in front of you. Jeremy Lafayette, a rock-solid bass guitarist and the jokester of the band. And Nadine Foster, vocals, a young lady with a big voice. It doesn't hurt either that she's a cutie. Nadine, incidentally, just won first prize in a "best of the beach" karaoke contest. Come listen to this group and their three-part harmonies and high-energy sets.
